The Vale's vibrant economy

The Vale has a vibrant economy with many large and small businesses. It has a highly-skilled workforce and a range of good quality business sites.

The dominant sectors in the Vale include

Research and development
IT design and manufacture
Automotive/motor sports
Printing and publishing
Biotech

Major employers include educational IT specialist RM; anti-virus software specialist Sophos; designers and manufacturers of hi-tech tools Oxford Instruments and Grand Prix team Williams F1.

The major business parks in the Vale are Milton Park with more than 150 companies employing more than 6,500 people; Harwell Science and Innovation Campus which is the home of the Diamond Light Source and other internationally renowned science facilities; and Abingdon Business Park.
