Faringdon

Faringdon is located near to the A420 with easy access to Swindon and the M4. It is the main market town in the south west of Oxfordshire. It has an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and a small market on Tuesdays. There is a Farmers Market on the first Tuesday in the month.

The Faringdon Joint Economic Forum is working to improve the vitality of the town centre. The Forum is made up of representatives of the Vale of White Horse District Council, Faringdon Town Council and Faringdon Chamber of Commerce.

Recent projects supported by the Joint Economic Forum include the Faringdon Craft Fair and a re-enactment of a Civil War battle being planned for 19 and 20 July 2008.

Faringdon is a Fairtrade town meaning that it has made a commitment to buy Fairtrade products when possible. Fairtrade products are designed to offer more equitable returns for farmers in Africa, Asia and Latin America. For more information see the Faringdon Fairtrade website.

Faringdon has undertaken a Market Town Healthcheck to address issues such as unemployment, low monthly earnings, transport access problems, parking issues etc, in partnership with the Vale of White Horse District Council, Faringdon Town Council and the South East England Development Agency. For more information see the Healthcheck documents listed in the related documents section on the right of the page, or visit the Faringdon Area Project website.
