Wantage Civic Hall

The Civic Hall is located in the town centre, and is available to hire for a wide range of events. The building has been designed to be as flexible as possible and includes a state-of-the-art acoustic system and excellent disabled access – the perfect choice for the discerning event organiser.  

The ground floor rooms are situated around a pleasing open area with tables and chairs for informal meetings prior to an event.        

All rooms have adjustable lighting and ample power points to support audio/visual aids in meetings.

In order to provide a first class, quality service to customers, our experienced and professional team at the Civic Hall are happy to discuss all aspects of your event from the initial planning to a successful completion. 

All rooms at Wantage Civic Hall have disabled access and for those getting married all our rooms are licensed for Civil Ceremonies.

How to book a room

  • Download the booking form from the right of the page, fill it in and return it to the Civic Hall, Portway, Wantage, OX12 9BY.
  • You can call the Civic Hall on 01235 763456 and we will send you an application pack and further details
  • Alternatively, you can call in to the Civic Hall and speak to one of our staff who will gladly show you the rooms, answer any questions and help you through the application process.

King Alfred Suite     

The King Alfred Suite is a purpose built, versatile hall able to accommodate in excess of two hundred people (depending on the type of function held).    

Equipped with flexible staging, electric theatre curtains, tiered seating, dressing rooms and state of the art sound and lighting, the hall is the ideal auditorium for productions, concerts, large public meetings, conferences and presentations.   

Large dinner dances and parties benefit from the spacious surroundings and large adjoining bar.

Ridgeway Suite     

The Ridgeway Suite accommodates up to one hundred people in a theatre style setting. This light and spacious room makes an ideal venue for lectures, conferences, seminars and meetings.            

The room further benefits from an induction loop system and visual aids discreetly masked behind oak paneling.

Icknield Room     

The Icknield Room is a ground floor room and boasts a sprung wooden floor, plenty of natural light and large mirrors adorning the walls making it an exceptional room for dance and keep fit classes.   

With access to the rear of the stage, this room also lends itself perfectly as a dressing room for productions and concerts taking place in the King Alfred Suite.   

The room can seat fifty people in theatre style making it a suitable meeting room.    

Segsbury Room     

The Segsbury Room adjacent to the Icknield Room is ideal for smaller meetings and lectures as well as being the perfect size for children’s parties and buffet lunches.    

Waylands Room     

The Waylands Room seats up to ten people around a discussion table and is the smallest room available for hire. Ideal for training sessions or meetings, offering exceptional accommodation and comfort.
