Residents' survey 2015/16
Our most recent survey showed that residents remain largely satisfied with the way the council goes about its work and the services it provides.
We spoke to 1,109 residents on the doorstep and asked them about their views of the council and the services we provide.
Around three quarters of residents surveyed (73 per cent) said they were satisfied with how the council runs things, whilst a similar number (75 per cent) thought that the quality of services we offer was good overall.
According to the survey, a key factor behind residents’ satisfaction is a perception that the council was delivering services in a cost-effective manner. Seven in ten of our residents agreed that the council provided value for money. Agreement with this statement is the highest rating we have received since the residents’ surveys began 2012.
Our waste and recycling service continues to be our top performing service area in terms of resident satisfaction; 87 per cent of respondents said they were happy this.
Although these are positive results for the council, there is still room for improvement. Some service areas saw a slight drop in user satisfaction compared to 2014. For example, our street cleaning service saw a drop in satisfaction of 12 per cent since the last survey was carried out whilst the number of residents happy with the work of our community safety and business support teams also fell by nine per cent.
