Our finances

The following pages give details of how you can download budget information, our annual statement of accounts and the independent auditors view of the accounts and how we perform.  You can also find out how to make payments to the council, where your money goes and how much we pay our senior management, by using the menu on the left.

The day-to-day services we provide are paid for from the council tax we charge and the grant we get from central government. We prepare annual spending plans (revenue budgets) for the financial year starting 1 April and a five year medium term financial plan. We also prepare a five year programme of capital expenditure.

These plans are approved by the council when the council tax is set in February each year. See our budget information page for more details.

At the end of each financial year (31 March) we prepare a statement of accounts which is independently examined and certified by the Audit Commission.
