Annual Governance Statement 2010/11

The annual governance statement forms part of the annual statement of accounts and reports on the extent of the council’s compliance with its principles and practices of good governance, including how we have monitored the effectiveness of the governance arrangements in the year ending 31 March 2011 and sets out action for planned changes in the coming year.  This statement provides an assurance to the council and its stakeholders that good governance arrangements are in place.

The council is responsible for ensuring that its business is conducted in accordance with the law and proper standards, and that public money is safeguarded and properly accounted for, and used economically, efficiently and effectively.
