Hygiene training

Many businesses see the benefits of formally training their staff to help ensure the business operates in a safe and legal manner.

We are a registered training centre for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and so can provide a range of nationally recognised food safety and health and safety qualifications for your staff.

Our course tutors are all Environmental Health Practitioners who have experience in tutoring these courses and enforcing the relevant legislation so can provide very relevant practical examples to back up the theoretical training.

Our courses provide practical insights into legal compliance as well as the necessary knowledge to help your business operate at high levels of safety.

Well trained staff need less supervision, are less likely to cause accidents or food poisoning and generally mean that your business is more likely to operate safely and successfully.

Training should not be seen as a one-off exercise and it is necessary to ensure that training is refreshed or updated regularly. The CIEH recommends that refresher training is carried out at least every three years.

We can also provide courses tailored to your specific needs at times and places that are convenient to you, so if you have a particular training need please contact us.

Levels of Training

All Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Courses follow the national system of rating learning levels. CIEH courses range from level 1 to level 4 so you can select which is most appropriate for you or your staff. 

Level 1

A simple course designed for those new to the workplace or as part of induction training. Normally a half day course.

Level 2

Formerly known as the “Basic” or “Foundation” level and is designed for “front line” staff. Normally a one day course.

Level 3

Formerly known as the “Intermediate” level and is designed for supervisors and team leaders. Normally a three day course.

Level 4

Formerly known as the “Advanced” level and is designed for senior supervisors, managers & owners of a business. Normally a five day course.

Language and Literacy Issues

We know it can be worrying for someone to attend a course and complete an assessment if they have language or literacy issues.

Many of our course exam papers are available in a variety of languages to help to overcome this problem.

We can also assist by offering oral rather than written exams or other reasonable adjustments to the assessment process to help candidates be successful.

Our tutors have experience in assisting candidates to overcome such issues so if you have any concerns about attending our courses, please contact us to discuss how we may be able to help.

Tailored Training Courses

As well as our programmed courses, which take place at our offices, we are also able to provide “in-house” training for organisations that may have a group of trainees.

These can either be from our usual range of courses detailed on these web pages or to cover a specific food safety or health and safety topic for you.

Such group training can also offer cost savings when compared to sending your candidates on external courses.
