Community Safety Partnership Plan 2008-11

The 2008-11 three year Community Safety Partnership Plan aims to address national and local priorities of the Vale.  It details the structure of the partnership and sets out the way that we will engage with communities. 

The aim of the plan, which is the fourth to be produced by the partnership, is "To work together to continue to build on the reductions in crime achieved over recent years; to support a community in which people feel safe regardless of age or ethnic background."

The priorities set out in the plan are to:

  • Reduce violent crime
  • Reduce anti-social behaviour
  • Reduce the fear of crime
  • Maintain the current reduced level of acquisitive crime
  • Reduce the harm caused by drug and alcohol misuse
  • Reduce the offending rate of priority and prolific offenders
  • Improve road safety

The strategy contains details of how members of the community safety partnership will work towards achieving these priorities. These priorities were identified following a Strategic Intelligence Assessment, which the partnership is required to carry out annually to help determine priorities for the following year. The assessment must include an analysis of the levels and patterns of crime and disorder and substance misuse for the Vale District Council area.  In addition, it must identify changes in the levels and patterns of crime.  Finally, the assessment must consider the extent to which the previous year’s plan was implemented.

The implementation of the plan will be reviewed annually.  This will involve consulting with communities in the Vale to ensure that our priorities reflect local concerns and to inform people of the success of the strategy.
