Rural touring theatre events

The Arts Development Unit can help villages in the Vale to host professional performances of theatre, music and dance.

Any community centre, school or village hall can apply to join the touring scheme which is subsidised by the Council to ensure that residents get the chance to experience high quality entertainment on their doorstep.

Performances are co-ordinated by "Live and Local Oxfordshire" which is a county-wide partnership supported by other councils in Oxfordshire and the Arts Council England. The partnership aims to enable the different touring theatre schemes in the county to work closely together to provide performances that are accessible, diverse and affordable. This should enable communities to continue to experience creative work by professional performers.

The next programme of performances will run from November 2008 to March 2009 - for details see below.

  • Caliche Children's Concert presented by Caliche Music & Education at Longworth Village Hall on Saturday 18 October 2008 at 4pm

Hansel and Gretel by Mike Kenny co-produced with Pegasus Theatre - a family show for everyone aged six and over

Desperate times call for desperate measures! So when food is short and there are mouths to feed something's got to give. But when Mum & Dad leave the kids in the wood there turn out to be more questions than answers:
