Great Western Park
A 3,300-home development will be built on the edge of Didcot which straddles the Vale border. 700 of the homes will be within the Vale boundaries.
Developers will be investing £60million in transport, schools and other community facilities, both within the development itself and the surrounding area. The site will also include a £60million investment in affordable housing, which will comprise 30 per cent of the new housing on the site.
The 180 hectare (444 acre) development, put forward by George Wimpey UK and Taylor Woodrow Homes, will be built to the west of Didcot between the A4130 and Park Road and to the north and south of the B4493 Wantage Road.
Plans include schools - both primary and secondary, shops, community centres, a health centre, open spaces and play areas. The development is expected to take a decade to complete.
The £60million investment will include £20million spent on highway works, including improvements to the Milton Interchange. Money has also been pledged to part fund a Harwell Bypass, if Oxfordshire County Council decides to go ahead with such a scheme in the future.
