Betjeman Festival promises a slamming time

Released on July 13, 2011

Visitors to September’s Betjeman Festival in Wantage will be in for a slamming time if they come along to Spiel Unlimted’s poetry slam and quiz evening.

The poetry slam, which is one of more than 30 events taking place over the festival week, will provide a head-spinning cocktail of potent poetry and spirited performances topped off with a twist of wit and tasty competition as poets compete over a number of heats trying to impress the audience and judges.

The event, which takes place on Monday 12 September at Shush in Newbury Street from 7.30pm, will be hosted by Marcus Moore and Sara-Jane Arbury from poetry slam specialists Spiel Unlimited and costs just £5 to attend.

Marcus Moore of Spiel Unlimited, said: “The event has already attracted interest from a number of the country's leading Slam poets, including the 2010 winners of the prestigious UK All Stars and Ledbury Slams. We look forward to hosting a great night of performance poetry, when the audience will also be invited to tackle the ticklish teasers of our Quick Quip Quiz."
