Beacon to be lit for the Diamond Jubilee

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Vale of White Horse District Council will be lighting a beacon on the downs above Wantage on Monday night.

The beacon lighting will be accompanied by a fireworks display which will be visible from Wantage and Grove and the surrounding area.

So whatever you’re doing to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee on Monday evening, turn towards the Lockinge and Ardington Downs (where the Point to Point is held) at 10:15pm to see the beacon being lit and enjoy the fireworks.

Please note, residents are asked not to come up to the downs itself, but to enjoy the fireworks from their homes or wherever they are celebrating the Jubilee.
