Places still available on summer holiday sports programme

There are still places available for activities on the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse holiday sports programme which takes place throughout the summer.

Young people, up to and including the age of 16 have the chance to try their hand at a whole host of sports and activities which take place until the endof August

Among the activities which are still available for bookings are athletics boxing, basketball, badminton, football, golf, netball and table tennis.  There are also places available on two multi-sports days which introduce young people to a variety of  sports including athletics, kwik cricket, rounders and tennis.

To celebrate the Olympics unusual sports such as handball have been included as part of the “Try Something New“ day.

Bill Service, Cabinet Member for leisure at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “There’s still time to book a place on the holiday programme.  It has a fantastic range of activities available, both indoors and out, and is sure to prove a big hit with young people this summer.”

Cllr Elaine Ware, Cabinet Member for Leisure at the Vale, said: “This summer we expect to see young people become interested in sport like never before, so what better way to celebrate than to try out a new sport on our holiday programme.”
