Food hygiene
The council enforces food safety and hygiene in around 1,000 food premises in the Vale. The food and safety team carries out work to check these premises, which range from small shops to large caterers and food manufacturers, are complying with legislation and meeting food safety and hygiene standards.
The team does this through:
- inspecting food businesses
- sampling food products
- investigating complaints about premises and food
- investigating causes of food poisoning
- providing advice to businesses.
These pages give details about the regulations which food businesses have to comply with and how to make a complaint if you think these regulations have been breached or you have experienced a food safety problem. There is also information for businesses on specific issues of food safety and advice for new food businesses. Also find out the simple steps you can take to maintain good food hygiene in your home.
If you would like more advice on a food safety issue please contact the food and safety team using the contact details on the right.
