The council's food and safety team is responsible for enforcing health and safety law in many workplaces in the Vale, some of which include shops, warehouses, offices, catering businesses, residential homes and leisure and sports centres. The food team works to ensure that workplaces are safe by:

• enforcing health and safety legislation in the workplace
• giving advice to businesses on health and safety issues
• investigating complaints and the causes of accidents in the workplace
