Scrap Metal Dealers Registration
Scrap metal dealers are required to register with the council.
To register please download and complete the application form to the right of this page and return it to the Environmental Protection Team.
Registration certificates last for three years from the date of issue and are free.

Motor Salvage Operator Registration
A motor salvage operator is any person who:
- carries on a business that involves the recovery of salvageable parts from motor vehicles
- is involved in the subsequent sale or disposal for scrap of the remainder of the vehicle
- is involved in the purchase of 'written off' vehicles for repair or resale, or other related activities
If you are involved in any of the above activities relating to motor salvage you will need to register with the council. To register please download and complete the application form to the right of this page and return it to the Environmental Protection Team. Registration certificates last for three years from the date of issue and there is currently a charge of £183.
