Work experience
Every year we have a variety of work experience placements on offer to give young people an opportunity to find out more about careers in local government.
Placements are available throughout the year and can range from one to two weeks or longer placements for older students.
In recent years we have had over 30 young people working in teams across South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils.
If you are interested contact the Young People’s Co-ordinator, stating which team you would like to work in, the dates of the placement and attach a cv giving details about yourself. If a placement is available you will be asked to come in for a short interview to make sure the placement is suitable for your requirements.
Extended work experience placements
We are working with Job Centre Plus to provide extended placements for up to eight weeks for people receiving job seekers allowance. This provides an opportunity to gain valuable work experience and develop skills to help them into employment.
Apprenticeships
The Oxfordshire Apprenticeship pledge has been signed by district councils and partner organisations to co-ordinate the promotion and development of apprenticeships across Oxfordshire.
There are many opportunities available across Oxfordshire, for more details www.oxme.info/opportunities
