Youth cabinet

The Vale Youth Cabinet is a group of young people from Vale of White Horse district aged 11-19 years who have volunteered to represent their school.  They meet to share their ideas and opinions with the people who make decisions about issues that affect them and improve things for young people in the Vale.

Members of the Youth Cabinet participate in consultations for the council and other organisations, help plan and run youth forums, belong to county wide groups such as the Oxfordshire Parliament (MyView) and UK Youth Parliament in Oxfordshire.  They have been involved with a number of projects such as running a community shop to promote children and young people's services and produce VYM (Vale Youth Magazine). 

Competition:  Poetry or Prose - first prize £50, second prize £30, no more than 1,000 words on the subject of what makes you happy, summer, friendship or a topic of your choice.  Closing date 5 August 2011 - download entry form.
