Flood management policy

The Vale has prepared a policy statement on flood defence to provide a public statement of the council's approach to flood defence in its area, which can be downloaded from the right of this page. The Vale is committed to ensure that appropiate maintenance takes place on ordinary watercourses. We will aim to secure the co-operation of riparian owners, but will draw on enforcement powers wherever necessary.

An operational flood plan has also been prepared for South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils which details the actions of the various authorities and agencies involved in a flooding event, the communication procedures and liaison arrangements within the two district. This plan can be downloaded from the right of this page.

Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA)
The Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA) is a high level overview of the risk of flooding in Oxfordshire considering both the probability and consequences of past and future flooding. Working with the lead authority on flooding (Oxfordshire County Council), the PFRA will help us develop a strategy of how we manage flooding in Oxfordshire in the future.
