Housing needs survey
The council undertakes regular housing needs surveys as part of its ongoing work to assess and address the need for housing within the District.
A new assessment was carried out throughout July and August 2008 to obtain up-to-date information which will enable housing officers to assess current housing circumstances as well as the present and future housing needs of people living in the District.
The council commissioned David Couttie Associates (DCA) to undertake this research. More than 1,200 questionnaires were completed with returns evenly spread across the whole District, giving us robust information not only for the District but also at area level.
The final report can be downloaded from the right of the page.
The survey will help the council to decide the type and quantity of housing required in the District, within the forthcoming Local Development Framework, and will also be used to demonstrate the need for funding to Government and housing providers. This research will also support the council's priority of delivering affordable housing within the Vale of White Horse.
If you have any queries, please contact the housing team.
The last survey, undertaken by Fordham Research, was carried out in 2000 and was then updated in March 2005. The documents which can be downloaded from the right of the page give a summary of the findings; an overview of methodology; results of the survey carried out in 2000, and the findings of the update carried out in March 2005.
