Site inspections

At various stages during building work a council surveyor will need to inspect any work carried out to ensure it complies with current Building Regulations.  All council staff carry photo ID and are happy to be asked for it and to explain the reason for their visit.

It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the work to contact Building Control and arrange these site inspections.

Contacting Building Control

If you contact Building Control before 9 am we aim to inspect that same day.  Alternatively, if you contact Building Control at least one day before you wish to arrange a site inspection, a scheduled appointment can be made.  We attempt to deal with all reasonable requests.

It is important to notify us at key stages as failure to do so can result in prosecution and an unlimited fine may be imposed.  The council can also have any non compliant building work removed or rectified.

For more information about the necessary inspections please see the Building Control Inspection guide.

Book an inspection online

You can book an inspection online.   We aim to inspect the same day for all inspections received online before 9 am.
