Fees and how to pay
How much does it cost to apply for planning permission?
It depends on what sort of application you're submitting and what you propose to do: for guidance, see the fees list. The fees are set by the government and were last reviewed 17 January 2018. From the 19 August 2019 a £96 fee will be payable on larger home extension applications.
Where a fee exemption is sought on the basis of disability please provide a letter from a relevant medical professional (e.g. doctor, physiotherapist) outlining the nature of the disability of the person(s) which the works are for the benefit of.
Where an application is withdrawn we will deduct a £25.00 administration fee in order to recover our administrative costs and refund the balance to you.
Paying for your application
Please note your application can't be processed until we receive payment.
You can also pay for your application online on our website by card once you've submitted your application and you've received a Planning Application Reference (e.g. P18/V1234/HH). This includes permitted development enquiries and pre-application advice requests.
You can pay using a debit or credit card for all types of application once they have been submitted and you've received a Planning Application Reference (e.g. P18/V1234/FUL) by calling the Customer Services Team on 01235 422600.
Alternatively you can send a cheque for the appropriate fee made payable to Vale of White Horse District Council to the Planning Department (see contacts section of this page for address).
It is also possible to pay via BACS using details below. Please note that all BACS payments should be clearly labelled with a Planning Application Reference. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org confirming a transfer has been made. Failure to do so may result in a delay in validating your application as we will be unable to trace the payment.
