Application for lawful development certificate for a proposed use or development

You can submit a Lawful Development Certificate to get the council’s formal decision whether you need planning permission for your proposed work. This costs 50% of the Planning application fee (£86 for a householder application)  and you need to supply all of the information outlined in our checklist Vale of White Horse District Council This link will take you to an external website... . For simple projects you may not consider this formal determination necessary but any work you carry out is done at your own risk. You may find a certificate helpful when you come to sell your property in terms of providing certainty to prospective purchasers.
