Application for lawful development certificate for a proposed use or development
You can submit a Lawful Development Certificate to get the council’s formal decision on whether you need planning permission for your proposed work. This costs 50% of the Planning application fee and you need to supply all of the information outlined in our validation checklist. See guidance on payment options.
It is important to note that you cannot amend any of the information provided once your application has been submitted and validated
For simple projects you may not consider this formal determination necessary but any work you carry out is done at your own risk. You may find a certificate helpful when you come to sell your property in terms of providing certainty to prospective purchasers.
