Section 106 Planning Obligations

Section 106 Planning Obligations

Section 106 (S106) agreements are used alongside CIL to secure infrastructure needed to support development.

Our Developer Contributions Supplementary Planning Document (891.2 KB) PDF was adopted on 30 June 2017, and provides guidance on:

  • how planning obligations will work alongside CIL to deliver the infrastructure needed to support development in the Vale
  • how and when we will seek planning obligations
  • if you are planning a development, what contributions you might be asked to make

The Developer Contributions SPD will be applied to applications determined following the implementation of the CIL Charging Schedule.

Take a look at our schedule of S106 monitoring and inspection fees (122.0 KB) PDF  required to support development, as set out in the Planning Obligations SPD.

Further guidance on planning obligations and their use is available as part of the National Planning Policy Framework, Planning Practice Guidance.

A consultation on the SPD ran for a six week period from Thursday 15 December 2016 to Thursday 26 January 2017.
