Local Development Framework - the Preferred Options consultation

The future development of the Vale for the next 20 years is about to be decided.

As part of the Local Development Framework, which replaces the Local Plan, the Vale of White Horse District Council has to set out where it believes 11,560 new homes, sites for employment, shopping and leisure facilities should be developed in the Vale up to 2026.

This presents a chance to breathe new life into the Vale's town centres and provide new opportunities for business, employment and leisure, as well as new roads and opportunities for new services and community facilities.

A document has now been prepared which sets out the council's "Preferred Options" for where new developments can be built in the Vale and what changes to infrastructure need to be made to support them. This document can be downloaded from the right of the page.  The Preferred Options Sustainability Appraisal may also be downloaded from the right of the page.

Public consultation on the Preferred Options has now finished and all the comments received have been carefully considered. A summary of these comments can be viewed on the Summary of Comments to Preferred Options page. Some additional consultation was carried out in January 2010 which you can read about on the Core Strategy: Additional Consultation page. All of the comments received will help us to finalise the draft Core Strategy. Further details on our progress is available from our Core Strategy page.

The public responses made to the Preferred options have been summarised and set out in two main documents; Proteus Summary Report (55.4 KB) icon and Summary Schedule of Comments.
