Ash dieback - Chalara fraxinea
A ban on the import of ash trees and their transportation within the UK came into force on 29 October 2012 to combat the threat of the tree disease known as 'ash dieback' (Chalara fraxinea).
Further information about the disease and the controls, including a pictorial guide to symptoms and a list of questions and answers, is available at
Suspected cases of Chalara should be reported to one of the following:

Forest Research Tree Health Diagnostic and Advisory Service – 01420 23000

Forestry Commission Plant Health Service – 0131 314 6414

Fera Plant Health and Seeds Inspectorate – 01904 465625

Please contact these organisations rather than the council if you have any questions regarding the disease or the control measures. The forestry team will provide any further updates we receive via the website.
