Assisted travel and bus passes
Assisted travel schemes to help the elderly and disabled people travel around the Vale are available. These schemes include:-
Reimbursed costs for travel to and from hospitals for people on certain benefits.
The national bus pass scheme allows eligible older or disabled people to enjoy free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. Under the national scheme a nationally recognised pass is needed.
Find out also about the new Oxfordshire dial-a-ride initiative run by Oxfordshire County Council which replaces the Octabus scheme from 1 April 2012. The scheme will offers a door-to-door service for people who are unable or find it difficult to use public transport.
