Description
OCC are proposing to upgrade the existing dewatering bays within the highways maintenance depot as set out on the attached drawing 395020-SKA-HGNDrayton-DR-CH-0021. These bays are used to stockpile material that is collected from highway drainage activities, including emptying gullies and clearing
blocked drains. The collected waste is taken to Drayton Depot where it is tipped into the existing dewatering bays, as shown on the attached drawing 395020-SKA-HGN-Drayton-DR-CH-0020, and stockpiled for drying prior to being disposed of at a recycling centre. The existing bays are now outdated and require significant maintenance at public cost to keep running efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner.
The works involve construction of new concrete bays which are offset further into the depot, when compared with the existing bays, and incorporate longer bay
walls constructed out of precast concrete blocks. Along with the new bays, a new, easily maintainable drainage system, including a smart filter chamber, will be installed to ensure all gully waste is contained within the de-watering bay extents.
Landscaping will also be completed, in accordance with proposals approved under a previous planning application for the depot, ref R3.0030/017 P17/V0865/CM
