Description
Following on from previous investigatory works, Noah's Ark 1 Bridge has been assessed and found to substandard (10 Tonnes GVW) in carrying highway loading. This is due to the existing defects observed within the bridge, including several longitudinal/radial cracks running through the arch barrels. The proposed repair and strengthening solution involves an array of radial reinforcement in both orthogonal directions and vertical pins affixed into the soffit (i.e., intrados) of the arch barrel. It is proposed to (1) strengthen, (2) stitch, and (3) carry out traditional masonry local repairs i.e. stonework repairs and repointing to Noah's Ark 1 Bridge, following the defects observed and the structural assessment of the structure.
