Planning policy

The Development Policy Team is responsible for preparing, monitoring and reviewing planning policy in the Vale. The team liaises with outside bodies, particularly in connection with environmental and transportation policy matters. It also provides advice to the Council and its various service areas, to the public and to external organisations, and advises the Council on appropriate responses to strategic, regional and national planning policy matters.

The main task of the team in recent years has been the review and publication of the Vale of White Horse Local Plan 2011, which was adopted in July 2006 and covers the period up to 2011.

Future development plan work will be undertaken as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) within the policy context set by national planning policies.

Plase note the planning policy relating to minerals and waste matters is the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council.
