Browsealoud

Listen to this website with Browsealoud

You can now listen to the council’s website using Browsealoud, a free tool that reads web pages to you and highlights words as it reads them. Many other websites offer this facility, including Google and the BBC.

By offering this service we aim to help people with:

  • Low literacy and reading skills
  • English as a second language
  • Dyslexia
  • Mild visual impairments

It does not replace other screen readers.

Download Browsealoud

You will need to download and install the Browsealoud program on to your computer. You will also need speakers, or headphones.

Go to the Browsealoud website. This will take you to a download page.

Once you have downloaded Browsealoud, an icon should appear in the bottom right of your computer screen. Open Browsealoud via this icon and you can set the type of voice, its pitch, speed and volume to your own preferences.
