Housing Supply Statement
The government requires local planning authorities to maintain a supply of deliverable housing sites, which are sufficient to meet their house building targets for the next five years. We've had some slow progress on large Vale housing sites, largely caused by the recession and now we are in a position where we do not have a deliverable five year housing land supply.
A housing land supply statement (285.1 KB)
has been produced which sets out our land supply position from April 2012. It updates the information contained within the Annual Monitoring Report 2010/11. It also includes information about the consistency of those saved local plan policies most relevant to housing with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
In October 2011 the council published a draft Interim Housing Supply Policy (IHSP) in order to try and proactively manage the shortfall in housing supply. Government reforms to the planning system prevented us from adopting it however it is available to download from the right of the page.
Further details about the IHSP process and the implications of our five year land supply are available in an open letter (140.4 KB)
sent to all Councillors.
Legacy information related to this process which may be of interest is available to download from the right of the page.
