Wantage Neighbourhood Plan

Wantage Town Council is working on a neighbourhood development plan. The process gives communities the power to develop a shared vision for their area. Neighbourhood Plans can shape, direct and help to deliver sustainable development, by influencing local planning decisions as part of the statutory development plan. Neighbourhood plans should not promote less development than set out in strategic policies for the area or undermine those strategic policies.

What’s happening now?

A draft version of the plan was submitted to the district council in January 2016. Take a look at the submitted plan (2.6 MB) PDF and the comments received during the publicity period

The independent examination concluded on 1 August 2016 upon receipt of the examiner’s report (234.0 KB) PDF . The report highlighted that many of the policies would not meet the basic conditions required for neighbourhood plans, and therefore recommended that the plan not proceed to referendum. The district council agreed with the examiner's report and issued a decision notice (48.0 KB) Word 97-2003  on 2 September 2016.

The parish council are reviewing their draft plan before further consultation and another independent examination are carried out. If you would like to be involved in the plan making process, please contact the parish council This link will take you to an external website...
