Wantage Neighbourhood Plan

Wantage Town Council is working on a neighbourhood development plan.  This is a document that, when adopted, will give local residents a say in how their community grows and develops over the coming years.

The Wantage Neighbourhood Plan, what’s happening now?

The Town Council has submitted the Wantage Neighbourhood development plan for independent examination.

Take a look at the submitted plan (2.6 MB) PDF and the comments on the submitted plan

We received the independent examiner’s report (234.0 KB) PDF on Monday 1 August with the recommendation not to proceed to referendum.  In his report, the examiner explained that while a number of policies were acceptable and could meet the basic conditions, there were many that could not.

We have therefore decided that the Wantage Neighbourhood Plan should not proceed to referendum - click here to read the decision notice. (48.0 KB) Word 97-2003

We’re now working together with Wantage Town Council to get the project finished – there is more detail in our press release
