A win-win for White Horse Lottery supporters and local organisations

Published 20 November 2025

The White Horse Community Lottery is giving residents an extra reason to take part this season. Anyone entering before Saturday 29 November will be in with a chance to win a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle (or cash alternative) along with £500 for their chosen cause – a win-win for residents and the community this Christmas.

Each £1 ticket in the White Horse Community Lottery also enters players into the regular weekly draw, with cash prizes available and jackpots of up to £25,000.

Run by White Horse District Council, the lottery raises funds for local charities and community groups, giving players the chance to choose the cause they wish to support.

Tracy Thomas, Co-chair of Grove Scout Group said: “The White Horse Lottery is a great source of fundraising and we’re using the income from the tickets bought to put towards our funds for a new building.

We’ve also benefited from these funds by purchasing equipment for our scout camps. The scouts were able to use the new gas stoves and tables at our recent summer camp, and we know these will last for years to come.”

Joanna Cave, from The Place in Faringdon said: “We run drop-in groups for parents and children, ante natal classes, parenting courses, baby massage classes and breast-feeding support. Our sensory room is a great place for parents and their little ones to socialise free of charge. The Community Lottery is vital to us, as every penny raised goes directly towards keeping our services running and supporting families who use our groups, classes, and facilities each year.”

Cllr Helen Pighills, Cabinet Member for Community Health and Wellbeing, Vale of White Horse District Council said: “The funds raised through the White Horse Lottery are making a real impact across our district. It’s wonderful to know that every ticket sold helps local organisations continue their valuable work supporting residents, while giving supporters the chance to win prizes.”

Tickets cost just £1 with 60p from every ticket sold going to support charities and community groups across the district.
