Read our nature and climate action plan and latest reports

See below on what we’re doing to tackle the climate change and support nature recovery:

Our climate targets are:

  • to become net zero within our own operations by 2030.
  • for the Vale to a net zero district by 2045.

For us, this means that our carbon emissions are reduced as low as possible and then we will invest in activities that remove the equivalent amount of our residual emissions, every year.

Joint Nature and Climate Action Plan

Our Nature and Climate Action Plan, joint with South Oxfordshire District Council, outlines the steps we will take to achieve our aim of becominge net zero within our own operations by 2030, alongside how we will support local efforts to tackle the climate emergency. We review the Plan annually to ensure it continues to remain relevant and effective as a key tool for driving forwards the council’s net zero ambitions.

Nature and Climate Action Plan Performance Reports

To ensure that we are delivering on our climate change and nature recovery ambitions, we publish annual reports outlining our progress and performance against the measures within the Nature and Climate Action Plan. These are reviewed by the Joint Climate and Nature Advisory Committee and Cabinet.

Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report

We will continue to monitor our progress in relation to carbon emissions from our own operations through the Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report.

Climate Emergency Advisory Committee

Joint Climate and Nature Ecological Emergencies Advisory Committee

Our joint Climate and Nature Advisory Committee advises the Cabinet on matters relating to the climate and ecological crises, and recommends actions, policies and practices to reduce damage to the environment.

Climate Action in our Council Plan

Our Council Plan prioritises action on climate change and nature recovery through leading in building climate resilient communities, reducing carbon emissions and restoring our natural environment. Our joint Nature and Climate Action Plan sets out how we will achieve our net zero targets in our own operations and across the district.
