Join the free family fun at The Beacon’s Open Day

Everyone is invited to join The Beacon’s open day on Sunday 2 October for an afternoon of free fun for all – plus a taste of the different events and activities regularly on offer at the Wantage landmark building.

Martial arts experts and dance class teachers will be demonstrating what goes on in their weekly sessions. Children can enjoy face painting, playing in a ball pit and on a bouncy castle courtesy of Monkey Mayhem, The Beacon’s weekly pre-school stay and play session.

As part of the open day celebrations some of Wantage’s local charities and businesses will be holding stalls and joining the fun. These include children’s cancer charity, Team Mikayla and Wantage retro toy store, Toy Planet.

Wantage’s The Panini Shop will be selling food and hot drinks. Wantage Community Larder will also be attending and hosting a clothes swap event – so bring unwanted, clean clothes and you could come away with a new outfit – for free.

Cllr Helen Pighills, Cabinet Member for Healthy Communities at Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “We’re excited to welcome everyone to our wonderful community venue. The open day will be a great opportunity for the local community and businesses to come and see The Beacon’s fantastic facilities, events and classes. There are lots of free activities lined up on the day for people to try and information about local groups that you could join.”
