Use a refill station

Much what we use every day comes in unnecessary packaging. Refill and zero-waste shops allow you to bring your own containers, fill up on household essentials, and cut down on waste without paying extra on packaging.

Products included in these shops range from cooking essentials, to toiletries, beauty products, and cleaning products. Some supermarkets are starting to provide refill stations for dried goods and cleaning products.

Using refill shops are a great way of:

• Reducing waste by not buying items like pasta and rice wrapped in single use plastic bags
• Reusing items such as washing up or clothes wash bottles
• Supporting local small businesses and Community Action Groups
• Trying items by buying small amounts, to see if you like them
• Buy items in the amount you want, buy “less but better”

There are many refill shops across the districts. Some sell just cleaning produce, some just food items and some both.
