Abbey Meadow, Abingdon

The Abbey Meadow is a delightful park at the end of Abbey Close in Abingdon; the River Thames forms the southern boundary.

Access

  • by car via Abbey Close. There is a pay-and-display car park directly next to the park.
  • by river tying up at the moorings site.
  • by foot through the historical Abbey Gardens at the rear of the council offices, along Abbey Close, or from Audlett Drive through Crab Tree Place.
  • good cycle links with the Sustrans Cycle Route running through the park.

Features

The park has a large area for informal play, a new well-equipped play area, attractive riverside walks as well as public toilets, including a 'space for change' facility.  In the summer, the outdoor swimming pool and interactive water feature for children - both newly refurbished - are open too. Please note - the play area, interactive water feature and pool are dog-free areas.  You can find out the improvements we made to Abbey Meadow last year here.

The interactive water feature is now open from 10am until 7pm daily until the beginning of September.  GLL manage this facility on behalf of the Council, any queries regarding the interactive water feature please call 01235 529321 or the Leisure team at the council on 01235 422240.

The outdoor heated swimming pool is now open for the summer season. It is run by GLL, for more details on timetables and prices see the pool website
