Abbey Meadow, Abingdon

The Abbey Meadow is a delightful park at the end of Abbey Close in Abingdon; the River Thames forms the southern boundary.

Access

  • by car via Abbey Close. There is a pay-and-display car park directly next to the park.
  • by river tying up at the moorings site. 
  • by foot through the historical Abbey Gardens at the rear of the council offices, along Abbey Close, or from Audlett Drive through Crab Tree Place.
  • good cycle links with the Sustrans Cycle Route running through the park.

Features

The park has a large area for informal play, a new well-equipped play area and attractive riverside walks.  In the summer the outdoor swimming pool and interactive water feature for children - both newly refurbished - areo pen too. Please note - the play area, interactive water feature and pool are dog-free areas.

The interactive water feature is open from 10am until 7pm daily until the beginning of September.  GLL manage this facility on behalf of the Council, any queries regarding the interactive water feature please call 01235 529321 or the Leisure team at the council on 01235 422240.

The outdoor heated swimming pool reopened in June 2018 and is open during the summer season. It is run by GLL, for more details on timetables and prices see the pool website

***The public toilets at Abbey Meadow are currently closed due to refurbishment work, which is due to be completed by the New Year (January 2019). Alternative facilities are available nearby.***
