Grove Rugby Football Club to receive over £80,000 to improve facilities

Great news for rugby fans in Grove and the surrounding areas. Grove Rugby Football Club is set to receive £83,861 from Vale of White Horse District Council to help modernise and improve its facilities.

The funding will go towards adding additional kitchen facilities and modernising the existing building.

The project has also been designed to be more environmentally friendly by prioritising energy efficiency and lowering carbon emissions, with the use of energy-efficient appliances, LEDs with motion sensors, and improved insulation.

Cllr Mark Coleman, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance at Vale of White Horse District Council said: “I’m so pleased to see that we are supporting Grove Rugby Football Club in modernising their facilities. Clubs like these play such an important role in improving community wellbeing, both physically and mentally. It’s also great to see that the new facilities will be designed with energy efficiency in mind, ensuring that the club can continue to thrive sustainably for years to come.”

Graham Mundy, Parish Clerk at Grove Parish Council said: “We’re delighted to support the S106 application from Grove Rugby Football Club. It is so important for Parish and Town Council’s alike to support local sports clubs, who in turn support their respective communities.”

Nigel Dixey, Chairman at Grove Rugby Football Club said:  “We are delighted to have secured funding for a much-needed kitchen refurbishment through an S106 application. We thank Grove Parish Council and Vale of White Horse District Council for their support in making this possible.

“The refurbishment will deliver essential structural improvements and brand-new, high-quality equipment, designed to meet the club’s current and future needs, while complying with the latest hygiene and safety standards. Once complete, the upgraded kitchen will allow Grove Rugby Football Club to expand its food offerings and better serve members, visitors, and the wider community. This exciting development marks step one in the club’s broader development plans.”

The funding comes from Section 106 developer contributions, collected by the council to provide and enhance facilities to support development of the area.
