Published 18 November 2025

Children and young people across Wantage, Grove and surrounding areas will continue to benefit from exciting youth activities, as Sweatbox Community Youth Services secures further funding.

Sweatbox is set to receive £96,432 from Vale of White Horse District Council to help them continue to expand their weekly youth activities, which include sports, arts and more.

The funding provided through Section 106 contributions, will help support the next phase of the Sweatbox youth service, covering years four to six of the project.

It will help Sweatbox continue to meet the growing local demand for its services.

The funding comes from developer contributions, also known as Section 106 funding, from the local Crab Hill development, Wantage to go towards local youth facilities.

Cllr Mark Coleman, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance at Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “It’s great to see Sweatbox set to receive additional funding to continue their brilliant work with young people in our local community

“The club plays such an important role by providing a safe and supportive space for young people to socialise, be active, and learn new skills. I’m delighted we can continue to support them so they can keep making a positive difference in our local community and reach even more young people.”

Michelle Rozier, Manager at Sweatbox Community Youth Services, said: “We’re so pleased to have secured this funding — it means a lot to know there is commitment to the work we do with local young people. Demand for our youth services has never been higher, and this support will help us keep doing what matters most: listening to our young people and working alongside them, their families, and our community to shape the kind of future they deserve.”
