The government has today (16 July) announced that Oxfordshire and West Berkshire’s seven existing councils will be replaced by three unitary councils from 1 April 2028 as part of its plans for local government reorganisation (LGR).

Statement from the Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council on further delays to reopening of the Botley Road
Following confirmation this week the Botley Road in Oxford will remain closed beyond the end of August, Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, Cllr Bethia Thomas, has expressed her deep frustration and incredulity at the further delays to the long-promised reopening. Botley Road in Oxford was originally on schedule to reopen at the end of August 2026 – almost two years later than the original timetable deadline.

Food and Warmth Grant Scheme supports people this winter
South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils’ Food and Warmth Grant Scheme is helping support people to cope with the rising cost of living this winter.
