Smoke Control Areas

In a smoke control area, you’re not allowed to have smoke from a fire, furnace or fixed boiler coming from your chimney. It also means you’re not allowed to burn certain types of fuel (link to Defra info).

Government regulations (the Clean Air Act 1993) allow us to declare that a certain area in the Vale of White Horse becomes a smoke control area.

There are currently no smoke control areas within the Vale of White Horse.

If you need more information or advice about an air quality issue please get in touch with our Environmental Protection Team.
