Recycling batteries and small electrical items

Released on August 15, 2012

We are now able to recycling your household batteries.  You should put them in a small plastic bag (similar in size to a sandwich bag) and leave the bag out on top of your green recycling bin on your normal recycling week.  We can accept all regular batteries as well as mobile phone, laptop and lithium batteries.  See the diagram below for further details.  You can also visit our household waste pages for more information on what you can and can't recycle.

We have also now installed some recycling bins for small electrical items, such as hair-dryers, lamps and telephones.  These bins are pink in colour and can be found in the following locations:

  • Sainsbury’s Wantage
  • Peachcroft Shopping centre, Abingdon
  • Gloucester Street car park, Faringdon

If you have any larger electrical items you need to dispose of, they can be taken to one of the County Council recycling centres.
