A new leisure centre for the Wantage and Grove area
To help meet the growing need for leisure facilities in the Wantage and Grove area, we are planning to build a new leisure centre at Mably Way. Our aim is for the new centre to open in 2020.
The new facility will play an important part of the future of Wantage and Grove as the area adapts to the meet the needs of a growing population, with new homes and facilities expected at Monks Farm, Crab Hill and the Grove Airfield site.
Our ambition is to deliver a new leisure centre that will address the growing demand for enhanced sport and leisure facilities, increasing participation in sport and physical activity for the whole community.

How we’ll work to ensure the new centre benefits the whole community
Equalities - by taking account of the needs and abilities of different users we will work to ensure that the new leisure centre is accessible to everyone
Energy - by including technologies such as highly efficient lighting, natural ventilation and renewable energy we’ll ensure the centre is energy efficient.
Environmental Health - we’ll ensure that any noise and light coming from the centre meet British standards and do not adversely affect the local area.
Planning - the new centre will be an exciting and welcoming venue, creating a distinctive sense of place through innovative, sustainable design and landscaping that is appropriate for the local area.
