Next step forward for Great Western Park Health Centre

A new health centre in Didcot has taken another step forward after plans were submitted on behalf of the NHS to the local council for planning approval.

Responsibility for delivering primary healthcare lies with the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB).

A site for the new health centre in Great Western Park was committed by developer Taylor Wimpey as part of its planning obligations, known as section 106, and is due to be transferred to Vale of White Horse District Council shortly.

The ICB, Taylor Wimpey and Vale of White Horse District Council have been working alongside the team at Woodlands Medical Centre and their appointed developer Assura, to bring forward the new health centre.

As the planning authority, Vale of White Horse District Council will determine the application in accordance with the standard process for applications of this type.  You can view the application (P18/V1826/RM) on the council’s planning website, and consultation comments are welcome before Thursday 27 February.

Julie Dandridge, BOB ICB Associate Director – Primary Care Infrastructure, said: “We’re pleased the planning application for the Great Western Park has been submitted and will now be considered by the council. We look forward to this project progressing as quickly as possible for the benefit for residents.”

Vale of White Horse District Council is unable to comment any further on the application until it has reached a decision.

The ICB regularly updates information about the progress of the new GWP surgery premises on the BOB ICB website.
