Drayton Conservation Area Appraisal

In February 2023, we invited residents to give their views on the Drayton Conservation Area Appraisal document. The appraisal is currently undergoing review. The appraisal has been updated following feedback from the consultation and has been formally adopted as a supplementary planning document. This document will be used to inform planning decisions and will soon be available to view on our conservation area webpage.

Stanford in the Vale Conservation Area Appraisal

In February 2023, we invited residents to give their views on the Stanford in the Vale Conservation Area Appraisal document. The appraisal is currently undergoing review. The appraisal has been updated following feedback from the consultation and has been formally adopted as a supplementary planning document. Joint Local Plan 2041

We carried out a public consultation asking for your thoughts on the main issues facing our districts and how we could use the Joint Local Plan to address them. Our Joint Local Plan Issues consultation was open from 12 May until 23 June 2022.

We have analysed the responses and are now sharing what you told us.

To show the results we have made some updates to our interactive Issues Consultation website. As you explore this interactive website you will see snapshots of the results and links to the full consultation results document for further details.

We’ve also produced a full ‘Issues Consultation Results’ document here if you prefer a more traditional document format.

Central Abingdon Regeneration Framework

In summer 2022, the district council and its consultant team including Carter Jonas and Glanville, asked residents for their views on some of the major issues and locations in central Abingdon, including three key sites owned by the local authority: The Charter, Abbey House and The Upper Reaches. Great Coxwell Conservation Area Appraisal

In April 2022, we asked residents for their views on the Great Coxwell Area Appraisal document. All comments have been considered. Click on the links to view the Cabinet Report (which details the council’s recommendations), adopted Area Appraisal and Consultation Report.

In September 2022, we asked agents, developers, landowners and businesses/organisations for their views on the planning application Validation Checklists and Validation Guide. Community Governance Review – Harwell East Proposal

In 2014, the Vale of White Horse District Council agreed to create a new parish comprising of the area to the east of the A34 within Harwell parish, up to the boundary with South Oxfordshire. In August 2022 we asked residents to give their views on a number of proposals concerning the name of the new parish, the style and the size of the council, the ordinary year of election and whether it should be warded or not.

Council Tax Reduction Scheme 2023/24

In October 2022 we launched a consultation on the Council Tax Reduction Scheme for 2023/24, inviting respondents to give their views on a number of proposed changes which would ensure that everyone contributes to services on a fairer basis.

Wantage, Faringdon and Grove Needs Assessment

In 2021, we commissioned Strategic Leisure Limited to look into sports facilities in the Wantage, Grove and Faringdon areas. We worked with them on an engagement exercise with town and parish councils and local sports groups to understand what their local need was. SLL Wantage, Faringdon and Grove Needs Assessment Draft Report

As part of our work on a new Joint Local Plan, we need robust, up-to-date assessment of open space, sport and recreation needs across both districts.

Work on a new Playing Pitch Strategy (PPS) and Leisure Facilities Assessment and Strategy (LFAS) commenced in October. The output from this work will be an up-to-date framework for the development of sport and leisure facilities in the districts. The assessments will identify opportunities for improving existing facilities, as well as any requirements for new ones. Draft strategies produced by the consultants should be completed this summer.

Proposed Taxi Tariff for Vale of White Horse

In June 2022 we asked drivers and proprietors for their views on a maximum taxi tariff for Vale of White Horse. The results were presented to Cabinet on 30 September and they agreed to set a new tariff which takes effect from 1 October 2022. You can find out more information on the taxi fares webpage.

Joint Design Guide

Both councils ran a consultation to get feedback from stakeholders and the public on the draft Joint Design Guide at the beginning of 2022. A summary of the responses can be found within the consultation report. The comments were used to draft the final Joint Design Guide, which was adopted by South Oxfordshire District Council by its cabinet on 23rd June 2022 and Vale of White Horse District Council by its cabinet on 24th June 2022.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) consultation statement

The SCI sets out how we will consult on planning applications and planning policy, including the joint Local Plan. The consultation statement summarises the results of the survey and all of the comments received during the consultation. You can find out more on our website.

Statement of Licensing Principles (Gambling Policy) report

Public consultation reports on the proposed changes to the Joint South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils’ Statement of Licensing Principles, otherwise known as the Gambling Policy. The policy describes how we deal with applications for gambling activities. You can find out more on our Gambling policy page.

Public consultation reports on the proposed changes to the Joint Statement of Licensing Policy for South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils. The licensing policy covers licensable activities such as the sale and supply of alcohol, regulated entertainment and late-night refreshment. You can find out more on our licensing policy page.

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule statement of representations

The statement of representations on the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule was prepared following a review of the document, which sets out how the council may charge a levy on new development in the area.  You can view the updated CIL charging schedule, the adoption statement and the statement of representations from the consultation on the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule page.

Developer Contributions Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) consultation statement

The consultation statement on the Developer Contributions SPD was prepared following a review of the document, which sets out how the council uses planning obligations (also known as Section 106 Agreements) to secure developer contributions towards infrastructure. Taxi licensing policy consultation report

Public consultation on the proposed changes to the draft hackney carriage and private hire licensing policy, which sets out how we regulate hackney carriages (taxis) and private hire vehicles in South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse.
