Moving to the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme
When you move from a Homes for Ukraine scheme visa to the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa, you will no longer be eligible for the 50 per cent council tax discount.
Below are some examples of the changes which may occur depending on your circumstances when you move to the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa.
For information and to check if you are eligible for a discount or exemption from council tax which can apply in certain circumstances.
Example 1
If one or more adults (an adult is a person 18 years or over) live in a property and are all on the Homes for Ukraine scheme visa, a 50 per cent discount will apply.
Example 2
If only one adult lives in the property and moves to the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa, you will be eligible to apply for the 25 per cent single person discount.
Example 3
If two or more adults live in a property and are all on the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa, the full council tax charge is payable.
Example 4
If two adult guests live together and one moves to the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa while the other remains on the Homes for Ukraine scheme visa, the guest on the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa will be eligible to apply for the 25 per cent single person discount. This is because the individual remaining on the Homes for Ukraine scheme continues to be disregarded for council tax purposes.
As soon as the guest on the Homes for Ukraine scheme visa moves onto the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa, the full council tax charge becomes payable.
Example 5
If three adult guests are living in a house and two are on the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme visa and one is on the Homes for Ukraine scheme visa, then the full council tax charge is payable, however, the guest remaining on the Homes for Ukraine scheme will be disregarded.
