Leisure centres and swimming pools

We have three leisure centres and one seasonal outdoor pool in Vale of White Horse. If you click on the name of the leisure centre you can find out more about the facilities and opening times.
White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre, Abingdon
Contractors have begun work to install the multi-million pound major energy-saving work at White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre and Wantage Leisure Centre installing solar panels and air source heat pumps. Together the measures are expected to reduce the council’s overall carbon emissions by more than 25 per cent.

Users of both centres should notice little change in the day-to-day running as the contractors will be mostly working outside the building, on the roof. Any disruption of service will be kept to a minimum and will be advertised in advance. Work at both sites is expected to be completed by the end of March 2026.

Abbey Meadow outdoor swimming pool
Abbey Meadow outdoor pool is open during the school summer holidays, which is its busiest and most popular time.
The splash pad and outdoor pool at Abbey Meadow are now closed for the season and will reopen in 2026.
The pool is run on our behalf by leisure specialists GLL, who have a contract to operate all our leisure centres and facilities – you can recognise them by their green ‘Better’ logo.
