Complaints or comments about a taxi driver, vehicle or operator

If you have any comments about a taxi driver, vehicle or operator – good or bad – we would be happy to receive them. We will need some identifying information from you such as the badge or plate number, or the details of the operator if you made a booking.

Compliments

For compliments, please email licensing.unit@whitehorsedc.gov.uk with as much identifying information as possible so that we can add a note to the licence holder’s record. It is always nice to hear when someone has a positive experience in one of our licensed vehicles, such as a driver going above and beyond to assist a passenger.

Complaints

For complaints, in the first instance please contact the taxi operator or driver directly with your complaint. If you are not satisfied with their response, then please complete our online complaint form. This ensures we gather all the relevant information at the earliest opportunity.

We cannot deal with anonymous complaints, so you will need to provide your contact information. This also enables us to contact you if we need any more details to investigate your complaint. We will not disclose your details to the driver or company, but if it is in relation to a booking we may need to confirm the pick up point in order to identify the correct booking.

In some cases, you may be required to report the matter to the police. We will let you know if you need to do this.

Where we identify licensing offences or serious breaches of conditions, we may require you to complete a witness statement and/or appear in front of a Court or Licensing Panel to give evidence.  An officer will discuss this with you in more detail if necessary.

Data protection

For details on how we use data from complaints and compliments, please see our privacy notice on our Useful Documents page.
