In 2008 the Vale of White Horse District Council adopted a policy to support the work experience programme (managed by the Oxfordshire Education Business Partnership) and formalise its commitment to offering unpaid work experience placements to young people who are currently being educated in the Vale district.
Our Youth Development Strategy (2006-09) sets out the Council's vision to provide better opportunities for good quality work experience placements and to encourage local businesses to do the same. For more information about this, please see our Youth Development Strategy page.
Should you wish to apply for a period of work experience, please write to or email the Training and Development Co-ordinator (based at the main Abingdon Council offices), stating which subjects you are undertaking at school, your preferred team, any career aspirations you may have, hobbies and interests and the dates of the placement.
Whilst we will endeavour to match your placement to your subjects/career aspirations this may not always be possible due to volume of applications and/or resources available. All students who are successful in their application will have attended an informal interview.
